Municipal departments continued working closely with BCMA throughout August, addressing infrastructure issues and advancing projects aimed at improving service delivery within the precinct.
Sewer Infrastructure Still a Major Focus
One of the most significant projects underway during August was the continued upgrade of the municipal sewer network behind the hospital. The project includes the installation of a larger sewer pipeline designed to:
- Improve network capacity
- Reduce future blockages
- Support ongoing growth and development within the precinct
Municipal teams also responded to several wastewater-related issues during the month, including:
- Sewer blockages behind the mall
- Sewer blockages on Nkunzana Road
Water Department on Lower Platform Leak
The eThekwini Water Department also attended to a reported water leak at the lower platform during August. The issue was addressed promptly to minimise disruption within the precinct.
Infrastructure Investment Continues
While infrastructure challenges remain, August saw continued progress on projects aimed at improving long-term service delivery within the precinct. The sewer upgrade behind the hospital remains one of the most important infrastructure projects currently underway and is expected to improve the reliability and capacity of the network once completed.
