Reduced Water Supply: Bridge City 6 October 2026

Live Alerts

Members are alerted that Bridge City may experience reduced water availability following a technical failure affecting pumps supplying the Durban Heights Water Treatment Works.

According to eThekwini Municipality, its bulk water supplier, uMngeni-uThukela Water, is undertaking repairs to the affected pumps. Repairs are expected to be completed by Thursday, 8 October 2026.

The technical failure has reduced incoming bulk water supply to eThekwini by approximately 50 megalitres per day. Bridge City is listed among the affected areas supplied through the Northern Aqueduct.

BCMA members and stakeholders are urged to use water sparingly, avoid unnecessary use, and refrain from wastage while repairs are underway. This will help manage available water resources and prevent reservoirs from becoming depleted.
