As we approach the elections on Wednesday, 29th May, and with the unfounded rumors of potential threats during this period, herewith an update on the precinct’s safety and security preparations.
We had discussions with South African Police Service (SAPS) and the precinct security service provider (Excellerate Security), and there is no intelligence confirming these threats, we however as a precautionary measure ensured that all necessary plans are in place and as follows:
- Emergency Preparedness: Comprehensive emergency procedures with detailed response plan and contact details is in place, and with all security staff members trained in these response protocols.
- Security Coordination: We have consulted with Excellerate Security, to discuss the deployment and currently there is low – medium risk, they will have their Tactical security teams on standby for deployment should the need arise.
- Collaboration with SAPS: All SAPS and Public Order Policing units from SAPS will be on standby and deployed if necessary.
- Enhanced Private Property Security: The property owners are advised to do their internal risk assessments and enhance security on their private property should they deem necessary.
