On the 21st of September 2018, the BCMA together with Excellerate Services issued AAA Awards certificates to nine security guards. Five from the Bridge City Shopping Centre and four from the BCMA. On the 22nd of August, the guards apprehended three suspects that have been involved in mugging people within the area. They would either follow the suspects when they were leaving the area or on their way to the area usually around Bester. The BCMA guards first attempted to apprehend these 3 suspects on the 21st August and they fled after breaking the rear glass of the BCMA bakkie canopy. On 22 August, these same suspects were spotted by one of our vigilant CCTV controllers in the area; who then alerted armed response to go and apprehend them. The suspects got violent and fought with the armed response and they had to call for back up from the BC Shopping Centre and the other BCMA guards and were successfully apprehended. SAPS were than called in to arrest the suspects.
Since the arrest of these three suspects, the Bridge City Management Association haven’t had any reported incidents of common robbery in the area.
