October saw a welcome transformation in Bridge City’s green spaces, as spring rains breathed new life into flower beds and landscaped areas. The natural rainfall resulted in a noticeable uplift in the precinct’s appearance — but also meant accelerated vegetation growth, which required focused intervention by our maintenance teams.
Focused verge and boundary maintenance
The Green Africa team continued with scheduled verge maintenance, while also tackling roadside overgrowth brought on by the rains. Several additional verges were cut back this month to maintain clear lines of sight and accessibility across the precinct.

Another key focus area was boundary fence maintenance. The team worked along various site perimeters to cut back overgrown vegetation and applied weed killer to prevent regrowth. These efforts not only improve the precinct’s appearance but also support enhanced visibility and safety around property boundaries.

Litter collection remains a priority
Across all activities, a total of 650 bags of litter were collected during the month, reinforcing the team’s ongoing commitment to maintaining clean, safe and well-kept public spaces.
Street signage repairs completed
In addition to landscape maintenance, the team undertook a precinct-wide audit and repaired all damaged street signage. This included the replacement or realignment of bent poles and signs, contributing to clearer navigation and a more orderly streetscape.
Looking ahead, maintenance teams will continue to respond to the demands of the season, prioritising safety, visibility, and the upkeep of green areas across Bridge City.
