BRIDGE CITY MA PRIVACY POLICY

The Bridge City MA (BCMA) is committed to protecting personal information as enforced by the
\nProtection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) which came into effect on 1 July 2021. Under POPIA,
\nwe are the \u2018responsible party\u2019 who determines the purpose of and means for processing personal
\ninformation. This privacy policy explains how the BCMA handles stakeholders\u2019 information gathered
\nduring various operations.<\/p>\n

What types of data does the BCMA collect and how?<\/strong>
\nTo communicate effectively with all our stakeholders including precinct members, the eThekwini
\nMunicipality, precinct-based businesses, the media and the public, the BCMA collects the following
\ninformation:
\n\u2022 Full name
\n\u2022 Mailing email address
\n\u2022 Address
\n\u2022 Telephone number
\n\u2022 Cellphone number<\/p>\n

Data is collected in the following ways:<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Newsletter subscriptions through the website
\n\u2022 Becoming a member of the BCMA<\/p>\n

How is personal data used?<\/strong>
\nPersonal data is used for the following functions:<\/p>\n

  • Communicating precinct-specific operations news, municipal notices and general news from
    \nthe precinct and greater Durban area.<\/li>\n
  • Coordinating board and annual general meetings.<\/li>\n
  • Creating WhatsApp groups for disseminating emergency and urgent notices when necessary.<\/li>\n
  • Sending emergency notices via SMS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    We do not share personal data with third parties, nor do we use cookies to track activity on our
    \nwebsite.<\/p>\n

    Where do we store data and how is it secured?<\/strong>
    \nPersonal data gathered through our various operations is stored on One Drive, which is central to
    \nthe MA\u2019s operations. Measures in place to secure this data include:<\/p>\n

    • All laptops, phones and tablets are password protected<\/li>\n
    • Office 365 MFA – Multi Factor Authentication on One Drive and Mail accounts<\/li>\n
    • Data encryption software is installed on all laptops<\/li>\n
    • Secure, password protected network connections<\/li>\n
    • No personal information is shared with third parties under any circumstances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      What are the opt out procedures?<\/strong>
      \nMembers and stakeholders can opt out of our email communications by clicking on the unsubscribe
      \nlink at the bottom of the email. Members on WhatsApp groups can simply delete and exit the group.<\/p>\n

      What is the effective date of the privacy policy?<\/strong>
      \nThe BCMA privacy policy came into effect on 30 September 2021. We will keep our stakeholders
